Waterfalls Raphael Hotel

Waterfalls

From the Tacchi… to the waterfalls The waterfalls cascade from the summits of the Tacchi in one of the most water-rich areas of Sardinia. You will find them at Ulassai and the waterfalls at Lequarci and Lecorci also deserve a visit. The ones at Lecorci are not far from the Su Marmuri cave and they meet with those of Lequarci in the valley.

You will see many rivulets of water cascading down from a limestone cliff shaped like an amphitheatre which is 100 metres high and around 70 metres wide. We recommend that you visit them when there has been plenty of rain to enjoy them in their full form.

Archaeological sites Raphael Hotel

Archaeological sites

You can visit many archaeological sites while walking along the Tacchi and around Tortolì. The Nuragic complex at Serbissi consists of: a round tholos-shaped nuraghe, a small village and a cave in the Taccu of Osini. In this region you can also visit the Scala di San Giorgio, another natural landmark connected to the history of the area.

This is one of the richest areas in terms of archaelogical heritage, so there are many sites to visit nearby. These include the Giants’ tomb in Urzulei (S’Arena), the Necropolises at Lotzorai (Fund’e Monti) and Cardedu (Monte Arista) and the caves of Su Marmuri.

Rocce Rosse Raphael Hotel

Rocce Rosse

Just a stone’s throw from the port of Arbatax, you will find one of the most breathtaking and beautiful views in the region.

Ancient red porphyry rocks stand out against the backdrop of white rocks and the sea, which gives the green of the water unique hints of colour.
You won’t want to miss out on this panoramic view at sunset with its dancing light and reflections. It was no accident that Lina Wertmüller filmed the final scene of the film “Swept Away” here.

Golfo di Orosei Raphael Hotel

Golfo di Orosei

Many boats leave from the Port of Arbatax for the bays of the Golfo di Orosei, an absolutely unmissable trip. You will have heard of Cala Goloritzè and Cala Mariolu, but you will be able to see many other beaches and caves while travelling by boat or motorboat along this route.

You can choose from various options, even including lunch on board, while you admire this beautiful section of wild and unspoiled coast with its steep cliffs rising from the sea and its incredibly colourful water. You won’t be disappointed!

Beaches Raphael Hotel

Beaches

We could take hours listing the beaches on the east coast which deserve a visit. Many can only be reached by boat, while you can follow hiking routes to others. But we would still like to recommend some beaches where you can enjoy a day by the sea just a few minutes away from our Hotel.

Porto Frailis is one of the closest: sheltered from the wind, it is characterised by its extremely clear and flat rocks and its silver-flecked sand. Other places for a day by the sea include: the beach at Torre di San Gemiliano, Lido di Orrì, and the beaches at Cea, Basaùra and il Golfetto. So as you can see, there are plenty of places to spend an enjoyable day in the sun.

Others include il tacco di Monte Tisiddu and il tacco Arba (Ussassai), il Monte Lumburau, il Monte Arquerì, il tacco Anuill’e Ferru and Punta Corongiu in Jerzu.
